Department of Ultrasound Diagnostics

The Department of Ultrasound Diagnostics was founded in 2006. The main targets of the department were professional development and organization of the training courses for ultrasound doctors.

The first head of the department was A.I.Kushnerov, Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor (from 2006 to 2016). Other ultrasound physicians, who worked at the department: E.A.Statsenko, Doctor of Medical Sciences, associate professor; E.M.Manak, Candidate of Medical Sciences, professor; N.L.Antoshina, assistant; N.I.Ovsiyuk, leading laboratory assistant.

The academic activities of the department are carried out in accordance with all achievements in science in the field of medical visualization and allied disciplines, on the principles of complex individual approach to the trainees and stimulation of the creativity.

The staff of the department successfully combines scientific, academic and clinical work with the organizational and pedagogical work. Aiming at the optimization of the educational process, specialists of the department have developed more than 33 educational programs of advanced training courses for ultrasound doctors, radiology doctors, functional diagnostics physicians and other physicians on ultrasound diagnostics.

The staff of the department carries out a huge amount of clinical and advisory work at clinical bases:

  • Healthcare Establishment «1st  City Clinical Hospital»;
  • Healthcare Establishment «34th Central Regional Polyclinic»;
  • Healthcare Establishment «4th City Pediatric Polyclinic»;
  • Healthcare Establishment «20th City Pediatric Polyclinic».

The main fields of scientific work:

  • Ultrasound diagnostics of heart pathology;
  • Ultrasound diagnostics of congenital heart disorders in prenatal diagnostics;
  • Ultrasound diagnostics of vessel pathology at extracranial level;
  • Ultrasound diagnostics of vessel pathology of lower limbs;
  • Ultrasound doppler diagnostics of the diseases of organs and vessels of abdominal cavity and retroperitoneum;
  • Ultrasound diagnostics of vessel pathology;
  • Ultrasound diagnostics of the diseases of prostatic, mammary and thyroid gland;
  • Development of the ultrasound criteria of the development of the cerebral cortex in the fetus;

International cooperation

  • Cooperation with the Foundation «Children of Chernobyl» (Germany).
  • Cooperation with the Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Radiation Diagnostics of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine
