From September 15 to 16, 2022, the 1st All-Russian Open Neurological Discussion Forum Patient Cases was held offline in St. Petersburg, which was attended by head of the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Professor Vladimir Ponomarev.

About 500 doctors of various specialties from most regions of Russia were registered at the forum.

The organizers of the forum managed to form a rich scientific program that covered the main topical problems of neurology and some related specialties: acute cerebrovascular pathology, demyelinating diseases, headache and other types of pain, neurological complications of COVID-19, neuropsychiatry, neuroorthopedics, neurorehabilitation and many others.

The peculiarity of the forum was that, in addition to classic scientific reports, invited lecturers presented their own analysis of complex clinical cases, involving participants in the correct diagnosis and selection of effective treatment. The practice-oriented direction of the congress was confirmed by parallel master classes of leading Russian specialists in ultrasound diagnostics of carpal tunnel syndromes, local injection therapy, training in soft manual therapy techniques, regressive hypnosis, anxiety management, etc.

Professor Ponomarev V.V. spoke at the opening of the congress with a welcoming speech from neurologists and neurosurgeons of Belarus, and also spoke at the section "Orphan diseases of the nervous system" with a demonstration of a unique case of diagnosis of Fahr's syndrome, which developed 20 years after thyroidectomy for thyroid cancer.

Considering the format of the congress, professor Ponomarev V.V. actively participated in the discussion of clinical cases presented by world famous speakers: professor Zhivolupov S.A. (Military Medical Academy named after S.M. Kirov, St. Petersburg), professor Rudenko D.I. (SPb GBUZ "City multidisciplinary hospital No. 2").

In conclusion, all forum participants noted the advantage of “live” communication between speakers and the audience, as well as the relevance of the forum format chosen for the first time, which provided an opportunity to discuss real complex clinical situations and simultaneously master new practical skills.
