Participation of BelMAPE at the Congress of pediatric infectious disease specialists in Russia

On the 16th–17th of December, 2021, specialists of BelMAPE participated at the ХXth Anniversary Congress of pediatric infectious disease specialists with international participation «Topical issues of infectious pathology and vaccination» (Moscow, Russian Federation).

The forum was held off-line with the participation of a number of delegates from all regions of the Russian Federation, countries of near and far abroad. The reports were presented by head of the Department of Epidemiology and Microbiology of BelMAPE, Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor Natalya Kolomiets and Candidate of Medical Sciences, associate professor of the Department of Pediatrics of BelMAPE Anna Ruban.

Associate professor Anna Ruban gave the report “The burden of pneumococcal infection in the Republic of Belarus from the standpoint of healthcare and public health”, in which she highlighted the problematic moments and achievements in this area. Anna Ruban also gave another report “Heart and vascular lesions in children in the era of COVID-19”, in which she focused on practical points based on her own clinical observations.

Also, Denis Savitsky, an anesthesiologist-resuscitator of the State Children's Children's Clinical Hospital, a PhD student, together with his scientific supervisor, head of the Department of Epidemiology and Microbiology of BelMAPE, Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor Natalya Kolomiets presented the report "Abnormalities of the cardiovascular system in children with multisystem inflammatory syndrome". The report summarized the experience of a year and a half of work of the State Children's Clinical Hospital with children who underwent a complicated course of COVID-19. The congress was attended by the colleagues from other educational institutions of the Republic of Belarus. Oksana Romanova, head of the Department of Children's Infectious Diseases of the BSMU, presented the report "Peculiarities of the course of infections in children with immunopathology".

Assistant of the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases of the BSMU Liliya Kastyukevich with a co-rapporteur - head of the Department of Pediatric Infectious Diseases of BSMU O. N. Romanova - presented the report "The role of immunopathology at undifferentiated colitis in children." The reports stressed upon the achievements and problems in the identification of congenital defects of the immune system in the Republic of Belarus, the contribution of immunopathology to the structure of a number of nosological forms, as well as the features of the clinical manifestations of infectious diseases in its presence.

It should be noted a high scientific and methodological level in organization of the forum in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The solemnity of the event was due to the anniversary of the congress, as well as the thirtieth anniversary of the Department of Infectious Diseases of Children of St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University, with which the Department of Pediatrics of BelMAPE has been cooperating for several years.
