On October 7, 2022, on the basis of the 6th City Clinical Hospital, together with the Department of Surgery of BelMAPE, a republican training seminar "Modern laser technologies in endoscopy" was held.

The seminar was opened by vice-rector for research of BelMAPE, Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor, honored worker of Science of the Republic of Belarus Yuri Gain, who noted the historical moments in the development of endoscopy, including the use of a laser. Yuri Gain emphasized the important role of Belarusian scientists in the development of laser technologies, both in our country and in the CIS countries, and also wished further development and success in the introduction of new technologies in endoscopy.

Alexander Vorobey, head of the Department of Surgery of BelMAPE, professor, Doctor of Medical Sciences, Corresponding Member of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, made the report “Experience of the Clinic of Surgery of BelMAPE in laser technologies”. During his report, Alexander Vorobey spoke about the scientific and practical directions of the department in the development of laser technologies in both surgery and endoscopy, noted our first experience in the world of laser lithotripsy through a double-balloon enteroscope for pancreatolithiasis after surgical interventions on the pancreas.
The report "Endobiliary laser lithotripsy" was made by Associate Professor of the Department of Surgery of BelMAPE, Candidate of Medical Sciences, associate professor, chief visiting specialist in endoscopy of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus Natalya Lagodich. In her speech, Natalya Lagodich shared her experience in performing antegrade, retrograde cholangioscopy - assisted laser lithotripsy.

The dean of the surgical faculty of BelMAPE, Candidate of Medical Sciences, associate professor Chasnoit A.Ch. also took part in the seminar.

Other reports presented during the seminar also aroused great interest and discussion.

The seminar was held in order to improve the professional level of doctors - endoscopists, doctors - surgeons and further improve the provision of medical care to adults and children using laser technologies.

The seminar discussed the regularities of the impact of high-energy laser radiation on biological tissues, modern approaches to the use of a laser in surgical patients. At the practical part of the seminar, the properties of the laser and the difference in them depending on the wavelength, hydrophilicity or hydrophobicity of laser radiation, as well as the difference between a pulsed and continuous laser, were demonstrated. Those who wished could work with laser radiation themselves under the supervision of experts.

The conference participants were also able to visit the exhibition, which presented modern endoscopic equipment and tools, learn about technical innovations in endoscopy.
