The results of the visit of the delegation of the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of the Republic of Cuba (CIGB) to BelMAPE

From the 27^th of February to the 7^th of March, 2023 a delegation of the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of the Republic of Cuba (CIGB) visited BelMAPE.​​ ​​

The delegation was represented by Dr. Arístides García Herrera, Dr. Yanisbel Ortiz Pena and Amado León González.

On the 28^th of February and the 1nd of March, representatives of the Center held a series of online training seminars: "An integrated approach to the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers" and "The use of recombinant human epidermal growth factor (Heberprot-P) as an adjuvant therapy in complex ulcers." The online seminars were held at BelMAPE and Vitebsk State Medical University. The seminars were attended by the teaching staff of the Department of Endocrinology, trainees and clinical residents of the departments of therapeutic and surgical profiles of BelMAPE and teaching staff of specialized departments of Vitebsk State Medical University.

On March 2, 2023, the Cuban delegation visited the Department of Endocrinology of BelMAPE on at the 10th City Clinical Hospital. During the visit, the reports of Cuban colleagues in the field of the use of the drug Eberprot-P (Heberprot-P) and the implementation of the national healthcare system of the Republic of Cuba were presented to the staff and students of the Department of Endocrinology. The speeches aroused great interest among the audience, all those interested were given exhaustive explanations from the representatives of the Center.

On March 3, 2023, the program of the visit included a visit to the Department of Endocrinology of BelMAPE based at Minsk City Clinical Endocrinological Center, where the guests were acquainted with the organization of the work of the Diabetic Foot Department of the Center. Head of the department, Inessa Pukita, presented a report on the topic "Organization of medical care for patients with diabetic lesions of the lower extremities in the city of Minsk." The delegation of the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology of the Republic of Cuba was given the opportunity to get acquainted with the work of the diagnostic laboratory and the patient reception room. Cuban colleagues highly appreciated the organization of work and professionalism of Belarusian doctors.

On March 3, as part of the excursion program, representatives of the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology visited Belarusian State Museum of the History of the Great Patriotic War.

On March 6, representatives of the Cuban delegation visited the Department of Plastic Surgery and Combustiology of BelMAPE based at Minsk Regional Clinical Hospital, as well as the Research Laboratory of BelMAPE, where they got acquainted with the organization of the work of the Department of Metabolic Diagnostics, the Department of General Pathology, the Department of Immunology and Biomedical Technologies, PCR diagnostics. During the visit, the possibilities of conducting clinical trials were discussed.

On March 7, Cuban colleagues were received at the City Clinical Emergency Hospital, where specialists were able to get acquainted with the organization of the work of the surgical and diagnostic departments of the City Clinical Emergency Hospital, the Republican Burn Center, the Department of Plastic Surgery and Combustiology of BelMAPE.

Based on the results of the visit, both sides expressed interest in developing and further strengthening of bilateral relations and outlined prospects for further cooperation in the field of postgraduate education, clinical work, clinical trials, pharmaceuticals, as well as in core areas of activity in healthcare.
