Aleksandr Sivakov

Aleksandr Sivakov was born in the town of Grodno. He graduated from Grodno Medical Institute in 1977 and did internship in psychiatry. From 1978 to 1980, he did clinical residency at the Department of Psychiatry of Grodno State Medical Institute. From 1980 to 1988, Aleksandr Sivakov did clinical residency and worked as a senior assistant at the Department of Physiotherapy of Belarusian State Institute for Advanced Medical Training. In 1988, he started to work as an assistant, and in 1999 – as an associate professor at the Department of Reflexotherapy of BelMAPE. Since 2005, Aleksandr Sivakov has been working as head of the Department of Reflexotherapy of BelMAPE.

In 1985, he defended his Candidate’s thesis. In 2001, he got the academic title of Doctor of Medical Sciences. Aleksandr Sivakov did internships in traditional oriental medicine and reflexotherapy in China (1989-1990; 2004; 2005) and the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (1991).

Aleksandr Sivakov has five inventor’s certificates in the field of physiotherapy and reflexotherapy. He is a coauthor of 4 medical devices, serially produced in the Republic of Belarus. He is an author of 96 research publications, including three teaching aids. His research works are mainly devoted to the development of new devices and study of the clinical efficiency in the application of physical factors to the points of acupuncture.

Aleksandr Sivakov has been a chief visiting reflexotherapist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus since 2005; he is a member of the Scientific Board of ICMART and editorial boards of 1 domestic and 4 foreign academic journals, an honorary member of two foreign associations on traditional oriental medicine and acupuncture.
