Igor Korol

Otorhinolaryngologist, Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor of the Department of Otorhinolaryngology of Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education, physician with the highest qualification category

In 1961, Igor Korol graduated from Minsk State Medical Institute, Faculty of General Medicine. From 1961 to 1966, he worked as a military physician abroad. 

He got his primary specialization as an otorhinolaryngologist in 1966. Then he worked at Occupational Health Clinic, Scientific and Research Institute; in 1982, Igor Korol started to work at ENT-clinic of Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.

In 1972, Igor Korol defended his Candidate’s thesis about damage risk criteria of auditory analyzer under the influence of noise pollution.

In 1991, he defended his Doctoral thesis about vestibulocochlear disorders at noise vibration influence.

His clinical work is mainly devoted to ear surgery, laser surgery, chronic diseases of nose and paranasal sinuses. In recent years, in his scientific work, Igor Korol pays a lot of attention to the problem of otogenic intracraneal, and also rhinogenous orbital and intracranial complications.

Igor Korol did internships abroad in clinics of Ruhr, Jena, Würzburg and Stuttgart universities.

From 2003, annually, he gave lectures at advanced training courses in a clinic of Ruhr University (Bochum, Germany). Under his supervision, physicians of Minsk Regional Clinical Hospital and Main Clinical Hospital of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Belarus did internships in a clinic of Ruhr University.

He is an author of 200 articles, 2 monographs, 5 patents.

Igor Korol is an active member of the International Academy of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (Saint-Petersburg); corresponding member of the German Society of Otorhinolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery (Bonn); member of the Ukrainian Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, chairman of Minsk Regional Scientific Society of Otorhinolaryngologists.

Igor Korol constantly gives reports and lectures at meetings, scientific and practical conferences in Belarus and abroad.

Igor Korol was awarded a Presidential medal «20-years anniversary after the victory in the Great Patriotic War 1941-1945», breastplates «Guard» (in 1963) and «For the development of new lands» (in 1956).
