Liudmila Belyaeva was born in Uzda village, Minsk region, in a family of healthcare practitioners. In 1966 she finished secondary school and was admitted to Minsk State Medical University, Pediatrics Faculty, which she graduated in 1972. Her specialty is pediatrics. From 1972 to 1973 Liudmila Belyaeva did an internship, from 1973 to 1978 she worked as a clinical resident at Minsk Regional Pediatric Clinical Hospital.
Since 1979 until the present Liudmila Belyaeva has been working at Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.
From 1979 to 1988 she worked as an assistant at the 1st department of Pediatrics, from 1988 to 1990 she did her PhD course, from 1991 to 1992 she continued to work as an associate professor at the same department, from 1992 to 1996 she worked as a professor at the 1st Department of Pediatrics.
Since 1996 until the present Liudmila Belyaeva has been working as a head of the Department of Pediatrics of Belarusian Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education.
In 1980 she defended her thesis for the degree of Candidate of Medical Sciences titled “Muscle function of a myocardium and peculiarities of hemodynamics in children with arterial hypertension” at Smolensk Medical Institute. In 1990, in Leningrad, she defended her Doctoral thesis titled 'Basics of the prediction of essential arterial hypertension in children and teenagers. In 1992 Liudmila Belyaeva was awarded the academic title of professor.
Her main scientific interests are the following ones: development and implementation of complex diagnostic researches on the issues of pediatric cardiology, rheumatology, clinical immunology and allergology, on the impact of ecological factors on children’s health, on the issues of development physiology and upbringing of «a healthy child» and etc.
Within the whole period of her professional experience Liudmila Belyaeva managed to create her own pediatric scientific school. Liudmila Belyaeva was actually the first one in the USSR, who initiated a new direction in pediatrics: studying of the role of heredity during arterial hypertension development and at the early form of atherosclerosis in children. Professor Liudmila Belyaeva is involved into the scientific and research work practically in all areas of pediatrics and successfully prepares scientific and pedagogical staff.
Liudmila Belyaeva is an author and co-author of 12 monographs and 2 manuals, more than 60 teaching aids and instructions for pediatricians.
The result of her researches in pediatric cardiology and rheumatology, clinical immunology and allergology have been published in many of her monographs and manuals: «cardiovascular diseases in children and teenagers», 1999, 2003; «Functional diseases of cardiovascular system in children», 2000; «Arterial hypertension in children and teenagers», 2005, 2006; «Atopic dermatitis and allergic rhinitis in children», 2006; «Lectures on actual problems of pediatrics (cardiology, rheumatology, clinical immunology and allergology)», 2008. In 2010, under the editorship of professor Liudmila Belyaeva, there had been published 4 scientific and practical manuals on different issues of pediatrics for pediatricians, «Lectures on actual problems of pediatrics («a healthy child», physiology of upbringing and development of young children, prevention of cardiovascular and allergy diseases)», «ARS-medica», 184 pages; practical manual «Pediatric cardiology and rheumatology»; publisher «MIA», Moscow (650 pages) and a course of lectures «Pediatrics»; publisher «Medical literature», Moscow (600 pages).
Under supervision of professor Liudmila Belyaeva there have been developed protocols and standards on diagnostics, treatment and rehabilitation of cardiologic, rheumatologic, acute and chronic allergy diseases in children, which have been implemented into practical healthcare.
Professor Liudmila Belyaeva regularly organizes scientific and practical seminars and conferences (city, regional, republican) for pediatricians.
For many years professor Liudmila Belyaeva has been a member of different medical boards: a member of State Medical Expert Board for Science and New Technologies in Healthcare, a member of Dissertation Supervisory Committee (BSMU and BelMAPE), a member of editorial boards of some medical journals («Medical news», «Medical Panorama», «Cardiology», «Reproductive Health» and etc.), a member of Coordination Cardiology Board Совета of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, a chairwoman of Editorial Board of the journal «ARS-medica», a chairwoman of the Problem Commission of Pediatrics of BelMAPE, deputy chairwoman of the Review Board of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus in pediatrics and etc.
Professor Liudmila Belyaeva actively participates in the development of international cooperation (Russia, Ukraine, Latvia, Germany, Turkey, Austria), she is an active member of «European Respiratory Society», European Association of Traumatologists. She regularly participates at international congresses and symposia on immunology, allergology, pulmonology, cardiology and rheumatology, where she gives scientific reports.
Liudmila Belyaeva has the highest qualification category on the specialty «Pediatrics». She was awarded by Honorary Certificates of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, Honorary Certificates of the State Committee for Science and Technologies of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, she got an award for excellence in healthcare of the Republic of Belarus, Honorary Certificate of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus, also she has a state award – the medal «For the excellent work» (2008).
