Doctor of Medical Sciences, professor, Honored Scientist of the Republic of Belarus
Maryan Pristrom was born in the village of Yankovtsy of Ivenetsky district, Molodechno region. He finished Volmyansk Secondary School in 1960; and in 1966, he graduated fromMinsk Medical Institute.
The main fields of his research work: neurohumoral and hemodynamic disorders in patients with the diseases of the cardiovascular system, age peculiarities of the course and treatment of diseases of the cardiovascular system, issues of prevention of premature aging, rehabilitation of patients with cardiovascular diseases.
In 1972, Maryan Pristrom completed full-time PhD course at the Department of Internal Diseases of Minsk Medical Institute. In 1971, he defended his Candidate’s thesis, and in 1990, he defended his Doctoral thesis.
Maryan Pristrom got the academic title of associate professor in 1983, the academic title of professor - in 1993.
He is an author and coauthor of 500 publications, 5 monographs, 4 reference books, 16 reference manuals, "Practical cardiology" in 2 volumes (1997), "Arterial hypertension in the elderly: topical issues of therapy" (2006), "Therapy and rehabilitation of cardiovascular diseases in the elderly" (2007. ), "Clinical cardiology" (2007), "Means of preserving health and longevity" (2009), "Hypobarotherapy in the treatment of patients with ischemic heart disease and arterial hypertension. Application of hypobarotherapy in other areas of medicine "(2009)," Arterial hypertension in the elderly: peculiarities of therapy and rehabilitation "(2012)," Practical cardiology. Guide for Physicians "(2012)," Emergencies: Diagnostics, Management, Treatment "(2013).
Maryan Pristrom has 6 author’s certificates for invention, 15 instructions for use.
On the initiative and with the active participation of Maryan Pristrom, there had been developed the following treatment methods: "The method for predicting the risk of developing calcified aortic stenosis of non-rheumatic genesis in an elderly person", "The method for preventing coronary heart disease", "The method for treating chronic heart failure", "The method for conducting hypobarotherapy in a patient with cardiovascular disease", "The method for preventing paroxysms atrial fibrillation in patients with ischemic heart disease with the preparation of Omega-3-polyunsaturated fatty acids in combination with amiodarone, "The method of treating patients with gonarthrosis by intra-articular administration of drugs under ultrasound control."
Maryan Pristrom was chief geriatrician of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus in 1991-1997. He is a member of the Scientific Council of BelMAPE and the Council of Therapeutic Faculty of BelMAPE, a member of two Councils of BelMAPE for the defense of theses. He is a member of the expert commission for therapy and rehabilitation, the expert commission for the procurement of medicines, the certification commission of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus. He is a member of the Board of the Republican research societies of physicians and cardiologists. He is a member of the Advisory Board of the newspaper "Your Health", the editorial board of the journal "General Medicine".
Maryan Pristrom consults patients in the therapeutic and intensive units of the Minsk City Clinical Hospital № 2. He carries out advisory work at the Republican Clinical Medical Centre of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Belarus, the Military Medical Hospital of KGB of the Republic of Belarus and at the Professor's Medical and Advisory Center of BelMAPE.
Maryan Pristrom has the highest qualification category in therapy.
On the initiative of professor Maryan Pristrom, in 2013, there had been organized a permanent lecture hall (school for therapists) at the Department of Therapy of BelMAPE for physicians-therapists, working at outpatient clinics in Minsk.
For his conscientious work, Maryan Pristrom was awarded the medal "For Decent Work", the Certificate of Honor of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, the Certificate of Honor of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus, the certificates of honor of the Belarusian Trade Union of Health Workers and of the Health Committee of the Minsk City Executive Committee.
By the Decree of the President of the Republic of Belarus in 2008, professor Maryan Pristrom was awarded the honorary title "Honored Scientist of the Republic of Belarus"; in 2015, he got a gratitude from the President of the Republic of Belarus.
