Vadim Shumovets

In 1990, Vadim Shumovets was admitted to Minsk State Medical University; in 1996, he graduated from it.

From 1997 to 1999, he did training at clinical residency on the specialty cardiovascular surgery and after its completion he was admitted to the 2nd Cardiosurgery unit of the 4th City Clinical Hospital of Minsk.  

Since 2018 until the present, Vadim Shumovets has been working as head of cardiosurgery Division №2.

Vadim Shumovets performs and assists planned and emergency operations at the correction of acquired and congenital heart defects, coronary artery disease, aneurysms of the thoracic aorta and other pathologies of the great vessels, rhythm disturbances, as well as other surgical interventions in the field of cardiovascular and general surgery.

He provides qualified medical and preventive and advisory assistance to cardiac patients at the Republican Scientific and Practical Center "Cardiology", as well as emergency cardiac surgery and advisory assistance in other clinics of Minsk and Belarus as a whole.

He began his pedagogical activities as an associate professor at the Department of Cardiac Surgery from 01/02/2018 as an associate professor. He willingly transfers the accumulated knowledge and experience to the trainees and colleagues.

In October, 2020, Vadim Shumovets defended Doctoral thesis entitled "Functional ischemic mitral regurgitation: a personalized surgical strategy."
In November, 2020, he got the academic title of associate professor.

In February, 2021, he got the academic title of Doctor of Medical Sciences.

He is actively involved into scientific work:

• he developed and implemented an original retractor with a heart stabilizer into clinical practice for performing coronary artery bypass grafting without the use of extracorporeal circulation;
• he develop the method for integrated myocardial revascularization;
• he developed an unparalleled intercostal mini-retractor with a myocardial positioning system.

Vadim Shumovets is an author of more than 150 scientific works, 2 inventions and 2 patents.

He has publications in medical journals and collections. He regularly takes part in the work of scientific congresses and conferences.

Награжден почетной грамотой Совета Министров Республики Беларусь (2008). В 2020 присвоено звание «Отличник здравоохранения». He was awarded with a certificate of honor of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus (2008). In 2020, he was awarded the title "Excellence in Healthcare".

He got Gratitudes and Diplomas from the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Cardiology.  

He has the highest qualification category.
